Verbal Diarrhea

Everyday there are 10 new words!! Of course, only Scott & I understand most of what she's saying, but she's trying! It's amazing the stuff that just comes out of her mouth. She repeats things, and then there are times that she says a word we haven't said anytime lately, and she's never repeated before, and she says it perfectly! It's so cute. And sometimes frustrating when we can't decipher what she's trying to say. So far no cuss words, which is amazing since I haven't quite cleaned up my potty mouth. Better try harder on that now!
She never ceases to amaze me. I try not to give my child more credit than necessary. Like I never claimed she was "talking" or saying "mama & dada" when she was saying "mamamama" & "dadada". I knew they were just sounds, she had no idea how to use the sounds correctly. But she constantly does things now that I'm surprised she knows. For instance, coloring. I'm constantly impressed by her coloring skills. She actually stays somewhat within the lines. I joked with my neighbor when she commented on it that she better be good, she doesn't play with any friends, what else does she have to do but color!! And the other day she actually drew a face on the chalk board! Scott jokingly told her to draw a circle, and she did, which surprised us. Then she said, "eyes" and drew 2 tiny circles for eyes. Then proceeded with nose, mouth and of course, toes. No body, or legs, just toes. I'm not saying she's abnormally smart, I'm just saying I didn't think she was capable of that just yet. We were impressed. We have a SuperBowl party every year with Scott's high school friends and their families. There are a lot of rugrats running around now, and it's amazing to see how differently they progress. The are several kids close to Evi's age, and they all can do things the others don't do yet. It was fun to compare notes. For instance, my child is not the only one who sleeps with her parents, and not the only one who wakes up at night still. It made me feel a little better.
Evi goes shew-wee in the potty!! At least she has for the last 3 days, and now I have probably jinxed us, but we were sooo excited. We started this potty training business in September/October, and 4+ months later we've finally gotten the hang of it. So to my friends who are potty training, don't give up! I've decided it's really a battle of who can hold out longer. The child wetting & pooping their pants, or the parent who has to be relentless in asking if the child needs to go potty. I've had other mom's tell me their child regressed and went back to diapers, and my theory is that they just got tired of the battle and gave up. I feel pretty sure that I say, "Do you need to go potty" more than any other phrase I have ever said before, it's constant and never ending! She still does the whole "hide" thing and wants a towel to hide her face when she's pooping, it's hilarious!!
We're working on 4 new teeth, yet again. I can't wait for teething to be over! She gets a fever for 3 days every time she cuts a tooth. So she basically has had a fever about once every 6 weeks for the last year plus. She sometimes gets so hot that after she drinks milk she pukes it back up, which has happened twice now. Once at home in bed, the other was just last week at a doctor's office. We were waiting for my mom and I had just given her more motrin & some milk and she was playing happily and just started gagging. Then proceeded to throw up all over me. And I mean all over me. Of course I tried to get as much on me and not the carpet as possible because that stuff stinks and I felt horrible about what little bit did get on their carpet. Mom was in an office the whole time and when she came out Evi & I were sitting there both in patient gowns. So I had to walk to the car with a nice breeze on my behind attempting not to show anyone my panties!! Mom got quite a kick out of it! I did meet Malachi at the end of the driveway when she walked home from school it my gown. She said she was just grateful I had on underwear, teehee.
Evi also had her first hair cut. We cut off all the curl at the bottom, but it's amazing how much thicker her hair looked just from one cut. It made her look like a girl now instead of a baby. She's so cute, but it made me sad too. She's growing up so fast!
