my excellent parenting

ok, so this blog entry isn't so much about evi as it is about what excellent parents we are. tee hee!
evi has broken her first piece of decoration at a store. yes, i am that mother who was not paying attention to her child in a store and she knocked over 2 vases at a furniture store in houston (totaling $120!!!). of course i could also say, what were 2 breakable vases doing that low that they could get knocked over, but it's totally my fault. (luckily there was not a "you brake, you buy" policy)
next, scott and i got 2 other kids in trouble at a restraunt because being the excellent parents that we are, we brought a dvd player for our child so that we could sit in peace and we could both have a meal. 2 years ago i would have been totally disgusted at this sight and would have sworn that i would never do such a thing. (never say never!) so 2 little girls at the next table caught sight of the movie and crawled into the both behind us to watch and wouldn't go back to their table. when they were leaving we heard them ask if they were going to grandma and grandpa's now and the dad responded with "i don't know, they're scared to have you over since they saw how you can't mind". i can just hear it now. the next time they go out to eat the girls are going to ask for movie and say " but that other girl got to watch a movie at dinner" and they will say, " well that little girl is a spoiled rotten brat!" ...and she is...
and now this morning, i just wanted to lay in bed a little longer so i turned on nickelodeon. well during a commercial she started saying "uh-oh" over and over again. so i picked my head to see what she was talking about and it ended up the commercial was one where the dad has a set of approx. 2 yr old triplets and one of them flushes his watch down the toilet and says uh-oh at the end. so yes, my child proved to me in that instant that she watches too much tv when she knew what commercial it was from the beginning!

I AM MAMA!!

finally...I AM "MAMA"!!!! she finally calls me mama! i am soooo excited! she also calls scott dada. and that's it. that's all the english we have at almost 20months. i know a word explosion is just around the corner.
what evi is good at is running. as she should be. she gets lots of practice. like when she runs from me down the driveway towards the street, or runs from me in the grocery store, or when she's getting a diaper change. yep, lots of practice.
evi also has no fear. she completely trusts that i'll catch her when she just steps off the playground equipment above my head. even the other mothers at the playground were impressed (and thankful it wasn't their child).

she loves the pool and doesn't seem to realize that she can't actually swim. but what's funny is that she doesn't like getting water on her face when we shampoo her hair, but she doesn't mind when she goes under the water when she jumps to me in the pool.
her fifth tooth is completely in, but no others seem to be emerging. but she's back to eating, sometimes. she's a true texan though, she likes her salsa and guacamole. her aunt mali has come to stay a couple of weeks with us, which has been great for me. i have actually been able to get some stuff around the house done. and a trip to wally world and target alone. i don't know how i'll get along without her when she goes home. evi does love her aunt mali...a lot. she's the one person who trumps me, unless there is an ouchee involved.
we recently went out on our cousins' boat in wichita falls. evi loved it!! except when i was kneeboarding, or when mali was tubing. she did not like that at all. but she loved the motion and watching everybody else ski and what not. some of you know that i have a small fear of water i cannot see into. but i sucked it up 1) because evi really wanted to get in the water when everyone else did 2)i didn't want mali to adopt my irrational fear and 3) i have to potty a lot, and that was pretty much my only option.
now, on a personal note, i have started a bikini bootcamp. and no, i'm not actually doing it in a bikini. i'm going to work out 5 mornings a week (3days outdoor rain or shine) at 6 am!! it's actually been quite fun. hopefully it will give me a jump start on getting somewhat of my pre-evi body back. here's to hope!!!
